Crest of "Flu" Still In Doubt

• The slight variance in the number of new cases in Indianapolis among civilians does not permit any announcement that the city’s ban will be lifted this week, according the city health board; Morgan is watching the reports, hoping that a decided decrease will allow him to lift the restrictions• The regulations governing barber shops have been slightly modified; they may now open at 8 am but still must close at 6:15, except on Saturdays when they can close at 9:30 pm• Morgan also pointed out the necessity for cleansing and sterilizing telephone mouth pieces daily with an antiseptic solution; people are warned not to place their mouths to close to the receiver when using a telephone• 2 of the flu deaths and 4 of the pneumonia deaths were reported by the City Dispensary• Dr. D.S. Woods, Superintendent of the Methodist Hospital, has said that no cases of influenza are being cared for in the hospital proper; there are 9 cases in an isolated building on the hospital grounds, which is not connected to the hospital; the number of new cases admitted will be governed by the capacity of this ward• At Fort Harrison, a total of 3,007 influenza cases have been cared for since Sept. 26; 517 total pneumonia cases have been treated in the same period• One death occurred at the State School for the Deaf and one recurrent case was reported• No change at Speedway Aviation Depot• Morgan advises people to consult their physicians in regard to the efficacy of inoculation; he stated that there is insufficient scientific data, but there has been a number of favorable reports regarding inoculationNewspaper article
